Do You Suffer From Migraines?

Do You Suffer From Migraines?

Functional medicine expert Erin Knight shares a story with us about healing her migraine pain through using awareness.  Erin is the host of the upcoming Headache & Migraine Summit starting on July 10th 2017.  You can find out all about it and register HERE. It’s Free!

Here is Erin’s story:

“I learned to listen to migraine pain in the silence of a float tank. I was trying to relax into the Epsom salt rich water. I felt my right side stubbornly bound up, tense and painful. The right side was the side I’d been experiencing a migraine in for the last 36 hours.

My body had revealed messages to be me several times before and the complete stillness of the tank felt like a perfect space to say to my body, “ok, what’s up? What are you trying to tell me?”

I realized as if out of the blue I had developed this constricted feeling down my right side when I was in 3rd or 4th grade.

What happened at this age I then wondered? I continued to be still and listen.

This was the age when I started to think that life was all about action and accomplishment. Just being in the world wasn’t enough any more. Now I had homework, exams, and big ideas about going to college. I had people rewarding me and recognizing me for my hard work and determination to get results.

Aha! All the stress and frustration and even anger I had experienced this week leading up to my migraine – it was all tied to this belief system that I had to constantly be doing, giving, helping and checking things off a list of goals.

I let that sink in for a few minutes.

Is this really serving me, this old belief system?

Change your thought patterns is easier said than done, but just in hearing the message from the pain, I let go of the tension and the constriction unraveled.

I left the tank refreshed, renewed and with my migraine symptoms 90% gone.”

I’ve learned over time that pain in my body is always a signal to be listened to, not pushed aside.

  • What do I need to feel nourished?
  • Am I dehydrated?
  • Am I straying from my life’s purpose?
  • Am I feeling disconnected from friends and family?
  • And if it persists for more than a day or two…then maybe something deeper is going on.

When someone gets frequent headaches or migraines, these questions should be asked too:

  • Is your toxic burden too high?
  • Are you having immune reactions to your food?
  • Do you have a parasite you don’t even know about?

To help you educate yourself on these different types of underlying stress and the right questions to be asking when you are suffering from headaches and migraines, over 30 world renown clinicians and researchers have come together for the Chronic Headache and Migraine Summit.

This event is online and will be completely free to watch from July 10-17, 2017.

Featured speakers include: Dr. Tom O’Bryan, who will talk about why people who get migraines need to understand the link between migraines and autoimmune disease; Niki Gratrix, who is speaking about the role of emotional trauma and adverse childhood events in chronic headaches; and our very own Laya Raznick will be sharing how developing self-compassion can lead to amazing pain relief.

Don’t miss out. You can reserve your seat for the summit HERE and get instant access to three of the featured speakers!

How to Reduce Your Pain & Feel Great this Holiday Season

How to Reduce Your Pain & Feel Great this Holiday Season

Keep your pain levels low and your energy high by adding these 5 tricks during the holiday season.

1. Visualize Success

Imagine New Year’s Day. See yourself vibrant and energetic, calm and centered, happy, and comfortable in your body WITHOUT PAIN. Choose a time each day to close your eyes and visualize this scene. Make a morning ritual of this visualization before you get out of bed.

2. Be PreparedHoliday Season

Spend one morning each week preparing clean, healthy snacks to have available when needed. Snack foods like chopped veggies and dip, celery and almond butter, tuna with gluten-free crackers and sunflower seed in the shell are your “go-to” while other people snack on carmel corn or some other tempting food that raises insulin and then causes an energy crash. Have healthy snacks with you when you leave the house and you’ll never be caught hungry. Preparation is one of the strongest habits to support success.

3. Add In to Crowd Out

Allow yourself to eat small portions of the holiday foods that you love but be sure to eat whole foods first. Fill your plate with salad, veggies and protein and eat those foods first. Add foods high in carbs to your plate as if they are samples. Take enough for 1 – 2 bites only.

The Secret To Uncovering Your Purpose

The Secret To Uncovering Your Purpose

People ask me why, when I had a thriving, well-established acupuncture practice, I returned to school to become a coach.  Good question. My answer? So that I could create a life of inspiration, joy, satisfaction and alignment!

Let me explain. I feel my healing hands are a gift I was given and using them is part of what I’m here to do, yet there is much more for me to offer. It is my purpose to help women and men who seek a more meaningful life, to deepen their satisfaction, live with more peace, and celebrate abundant love – regardless of the circumstances around them. That is why I modified my acupuncture practice in favor of working with coaching clients to help them create the life of their dreams.

Coaching begins by doing the work to uncover the clients unique purpose as they begin to build self respect and clarity, awaken their vibrant life force, and ignite their passion. Everyday actions become a playing field for authentic expression, satisfaction and joy.

Life’s 3rd Act

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

~ Mary Oliver ~

Life’s 3rd Act

September is my birthday month!  (Scroll down for my gift to you).

Believe it or not, I’ll be 60 years old. This is not what I imagined 60 to be. I’m not old. I’m vibranblack-and-whitetly alive, growing, reaching, learning, and exploring my potential.  I’m launching my teenage daughter, expanding mybusiness, and looking for love. This is not what I expected 60 to look like.  It’s so much better!  This stage of development is called “Life’s 3rd Act” says Jane Fonda in her TedX Women’s talk.  It’s as different from mid-life as childhood is from adolescence. In this stage we are empowered to climb the staircase of the human spirit towards wisdom, wholeness, and authenticity.

So tell me…what do you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? Will you dare to acknowledge your greatest gifts? Will you take the risk to develop and express them? Will you create more happiness by offering your unique gifts to others?
